While waiting for ‘Cars 2′, watch ‘Mater’s Tall Tales’!
Among our cult car movies, Disney/Pixar’s Cars ranks high. Very high. The way it pictures the car industry and culture, the characters, the photography, the design, even the storyline… it’s a fantastic movie. So ever since Cars 2 has been announced we’ve been giddy like schoolgirls. Only problem is: we have to wait until 2012. To help us wait, John Lasseter’s team had come up with a mini-series of shorts featuring the beloved Mater. The Cars Toons:... Read More
Transformers 2 : Revenge of the Fallen sets new box office record.
Michael Bay’s new summer blockbuster flick seems to be off to a good start. The film is getting a lot of attention, the shelves are full of toys and merchandise, the critics are alright and… according to, the movie had “shattered the Wednesday record, raking in $60.6 million on approximately 9,700 screens at 4,234 sites (including a record 169 IMAX venues) in its first day“! We have to admit, we’re a bit skeptical after seeing some of the trailers,... Read More
Ferrari 412 in Daft Punk’s Electroma
The Dafts cruising through the California desert OK, we thought the movie was boring as h…, never seen that many people leave a theater before, but we stayed until the end just in case something good would happen. My favorite part turned out to be…. hold on…. the one with the Ferrari 412 that the two robots chose as their mean of transportation. Good choice, it fits them well. Sporting a “HUMAN” California license plate, the Daft-Punk-mobile reflects... Read More
Johnny Cash’s “One Piece at a Time” car
Johnny Cash is at the wheel in this picture from 1976. In one of our all time favorite “One Piece at a Time” by The Man in Black, a.k.a Johnny Cash, a guy working on a GM assembly line uses his big lunch box to take home a part of the car he’s working on, every day. And for the big ones, he uses a friend’s RV. The car you see above is the “official” one, since it was built specifically to promote the song. The work was executed by Bruce Fitzpatrick... Read More
Car of Tomorrow
Nope, its not a video about Nascar’s Car of Tomorrow. It’s an old cartoon about what the car of tomorrow…could have been. There’s some really good ideas, some funny jokes, some bad ones, and lots of could old machismo. They even have a car for straight up GTA/Carmageddon style massacre: “This model has a glass bottom, so when you hit a pedestrian, you can look down and see if he was a friend of yours.” It’s a bit long, but you’ll... Official Audi R8 / Iron Man TV spot
Spanish people have been granted an extra TV spot where the deal between Audi and Paramount Pictures is clearly shown (it’s also a webspecial in other countries). They exploit each other’s product. When Audi promotes its supercar, Iron Man gets some exposure; when a trailer is shown, the R8 appears. It’s Co-advertising at its best. The ad mixes footage from Iron Man and some recycled bits of the first Audi R8 (we covered it in January). It probably didn’t... Read More
Suzuki Kizashi 3 video
Last March at the New york Autoshow, Suzuki introduced the Kizashi 3 concept car. To help the physical model, they also had a video entirely in 3D. It’s not a movie per se, but it’s interesting nonetheless, and gives us a sense of things to come. Computer generated animations have made tremendous improvements for the past decades and will keep doing so. The cost, the amount of time and people to make them has also drop. In the case of the present video, you can... Read More

digg_url = 'http://carsplusmovies.com/2008/03/27/gran-turismo-5-bridging-the-gap-between-video-games-and-movies/'; A couple years ago, the video games industry started bringing more money than the movie industry. Now, it’s starting to look just as real. The new Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is the most realistic game on the market (it will be out on April 17th), both visually and physically. The lighting, the reflections, the reaction of the cars are incredible More and more... Read More
