Michael Bay is at it again… This time is taking the battered franchise to Chicago to shoot Nascar vehicles. No idea how the plot line (wait, what?) holds there, but there’s also a convertible version of the Corvette concept, Bumblebee, Optimus with a trailer and vehicular carnage. The Nascar characters look pretty cool in their half-transformed state though. What do you guys think?

Local Motors, the young crowd-sourced automotive company, has been hard at work on their first vehicle, the Rally Fighter. Designed by an Art Center student, Sangho Kim, the concept was chosen by a vote from the online Local Motors community. People interested in buying it give a deposit to LM and when their car has gone though the first built phase, they put the car together at the LM factory, under the directions of a seasoned LM employee.

Now they’re testing the first vehicles and they put together a nice video showing the beast in action, with the Waylon Jennings’ classic “Good Ol’ Boys”, better known as the theme from the Dukes of Hazzard. Sweet.

In 1987, the science -fiction movie Cherry 200 came out, featuring Melanie Griffith, her lifted 1965 Mustang and a few Blakely Bantam, the famous British 3-wheeler. It’s a perverted love tale, taking place in Vegas in 2017, where all things sexual are made with robots or only after a lengthy contract is signed in the presence of the lawyers from both parties. Considered a B-movie, it still has a sort of cult following.

Here’s the latest trailer for the A-Team… in HD! Bet you didn’t expect that after reading the title.

We thought the Bridgestone commcial for the big game was okay, just not as fun as the fantastic “screaming squirrel” from last year. But it looked oddly familiar : the 80’s sci-fi look, the young couple being stopped by a bunch of thugs at night on a deserted road, the challenge “your… or your girl”… It’s the intro scene of The Wraith! No PPG/Dodge “Turbo Interceptor” MS4 here, but a mashup of parts and pipes that reminds of the Delorean from Back to the Future. It could have been funny to have Charlie Sheen do a cameo in there (after all, he’s already doing commercials for Hanes…).
We have to salute the good 80’s movie car culture from the creative people behind the commercial though. Who knows, maybe The Wraith gets some renewed popularity from this, maybe even a Hollywood producer gets his wheels turning and we get a remake in 2012? That could be kind of cool, what do you guys think? Leave your comments!

In each ad, a gleaming black Charger poses atop a parking deck, sun beating off the windows, while a familiar voice — Michael C. Hall, the star of Showtime’s hit series “Dexter” — waxes poetic about manly things. The funniest of the three ads, dubbed “Man Bag,” broke during the NFC Championship game broadcast this past weekend. In it, we hear Mr. Hall recounting all the things the Dodge Charger isn’t: “man sandals,” an “exfoliant with added moisturizer” or a “yoga class.”

The Hemi-powered car has been an on-again, off-again brand for Chrysler. The Charger made a comeback in 2005, after a 17-year hiatus from Chrysler’s vehicle lineup. Under then-director of marketing communications, Julie Roehm, online was the leading medium for an ad campaign.

Porsche is aiming to reclaim its position as a true sports car (you know, not the one as king of soccer-mum SUV one) and just showed it’s new ad: it looks good. Great footage, intelligent copy and cool music. Our kind of ad.

We’re not entirely convinced yet, but it looks pretty good.Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Quiton Jackson & Jessica Biel are in and hearing hints of the theme song is exciting. But mainly, THE VAN is there! Can’t wait to see more!
