James Bond doesn’t have to settle for only one Bond girl now. He can ride in style with three passengers in his Aston Martin Rapide and still chase the bad guys with a powerful V12… The British is finally banking on its 007 fame by introducing colors inspired by the famous spy. Don’t expect “Goldfinger yellow” or “Dr. No red” though, but a delightful ‘Silver Blonde’ and a menacing ‘Quantum Silver’.

With the rise in abductions and attacks, armored cars sales are booming. CNN takes a look at Texas Armored Cars and the results are impressive! Windows that can resist heavy weapons, tacs thrower and smoke screen, they’ve got it all.

We’ve been away for a while, so we needed a great video to start fresh again, and this one is just perfect. The author did a great job making a montage of his favorite car chases, highlighting the cliches of the art. As always, enjoy!

Once again, a DBS met its maker on a James Bond shooting. Following the several ones destroyed during the rollover scene in Casino Royale and the one which wasn’t supposed to take a fatal bath in the Lake Garda on the set of Quantum of Solace, the much desired vehicle hit a stone wall in a quarry for what will be the climax of the chase in the upcoming movie.
For good measure, the bad guy’s vehicle is also destroyed in the scene, which MI6 describes as follow:

Bond is chased by villains in Alfa Romeos around the banks of Lake Garda, culminating in a devastating crash in the Canalgrande and Fantiscritti marble quarries. The action will form the pre-credits sequence to the movie and is expected to run for 15 minutes.

Sounds like a hell of thrill ride to start a movie and we can’t wait to see it. At the same time, we’re sad about the car, but we console ourselves by thinking (hoping?) that most of the good stuff (engine, interior…) had been taken out.

Maybe it’s Murphy’s law, maybe it’s the road around Lake Garda, but just days after a stunt man and his DBS ended up in the aforementioned lake (see our article), two of his colleagues crashed an Alfa Romeo 159 into a production truck. The passenger made it fine, but the driver is said to be in critical condition. Let’s hope for the best for him. A human life is worth more than a car, whatever the make is (that’s our reaction to some inconsiderate reactions we saw on some websites).

“the accident happened when the car used by two stuntmen rammed into a filming lorry and then into a wall on set near the picturesque Lake Garda in northern Italy…”

“…one of the two men, a Greek national, ended up in intensive care in a hospital in the nearby town of Verona.”

The filming as been stopped while the scene is under investigation. The driver was experienced, but the road is windy and dangerous for this kind of high speed scenes: “They chose this road because it is full of curves and tunnels. It will give the film a lot of impact,” said Marco Girardi, spokeman for the town of Limone sul Garda.

“Filming with the second unit on ‘Quantum of Solace’ will be suspended while the accident is investigated,” the statement said. It noted that neither director Marc Forster, Daniel Craig nor any other cast members were at the location when the accident occurred.

The new James Bond was being interviewed by the BBC, on the set of the Pinewood studios. It gives a glimpse of the story and some footage!

While shooting a stunt for Quantum of Solace, the next Bond, the stuntman lost control of the Aston Martin DBS and ended up in the lake beyond. Thanksfully, the driver suffers only minor injuries, which is crazy considering how badly damaged the car is.
It’s painful to see such a beautiful car get smashed, but when you see what these guys do with them when filming, it’s amazing it doesn’t happen more often!

Quantum of Solace will be in theatres on November 7th, 2008 (don’t forget to check our calendar in the left column!).

They don’t show much, but it’s quite fascinating to see the apparatus the production has to install on the Aston Martin DBS to shoot the scenes.

We found those wallpapers on 007.com, the official Bond website. They’re just teasers, but you can already tell that there’s a big change coming: Bond has ditched the traditional Walther PPK handgun for an automatic. He’s definitely out for revenge…
