Good move from Chevy finally using their movie cred from Transformers. Yes, there’s a third one coming, and that’s unfortunate. Or maybe they’ve actually hired writers this time and it’s awesome. who knows. In any case, it’s a funny video and we’re looking forward to more goodness on Sunday!

Die Hard came up with a pretty cool series of offbeat commercials, including this one featuring Gary Numan, performing his hit “Cars” with car horns triggered by his synthesizer, all powered by one DieHard battery.

Among our cult car movies, Disney/Pixar’s Cars ranks high. Very high. The way it pictures the car industry and culture, the characters, the photography, the design, even the storyline… it’s a fantastic movie. So ever since Cars 2 has been announced we’ve been giddy like schoolgirls. Only problem is: we have to wait until 2012.
To help us wait, John Lasseter’s team had come up with a mini-series of shorts featuring the beloved Mater. The Cars Toons: Mater Tall Tales air on the Disney Channel, Toon Disney, and ABC Family and include: “Rescue Squad Mater”, “Mater The Greater”, “El Materdor” and “Tokyo Mater”, that we’ve embedded below for your viewing pleasure. This fourth installment premiered in theaters in December 2008 before the movie Bolt and is our favorite. It’s a great parody of the Fast and Furious franchise, mainly of the second and third movies.

One off our favorite TV show is Little Britain, an hilarious 20 minute long BBC program centered around two crazy actors and the multitude of characters they invent and play.
So when we realized they had made a parody of another of our favorite shows, we couldn’t resist to post it here… Fans of the A-team, rejoice!

If you’re considering buying a Rav 4, careful: it might be the end of your marriage. As this ad shows, it’s such a good car, you and your spouse will fight over it. But not just verbally. You will actually booby trap your house, and might even blow up your significant other with it. Consider yourself warned.

Nope, its not a video about Nascar’s Car of Tomorrow. It’s an old cartoon about what the car of tomorrow…could have been. There’s some really good ideas, some funny jokes, some bad ones, and lots of could old machismo. They even have a car for straight up GTA/Carmageddon style massacre:

“This model has a glass bottom, so when you hit a pedestrian, you can look down and see if he was a friend of yours.”

It’s a bit long, but you’ll probably enjoy it.

We’ve heard that before: studio head honchos don’t like to release their movie the same week a blockbuster video-game is released. Some even blame video-games for the poor results of theirs. GTA IV hit the shelves the day before Iron Man opened last week. So how bad is Niko Bellic for Tony Stark?

Just before the big opening, the guys from Reelz Channel and Variety were wondering if Iron Man’s results could be hurt by the release of GTA IV (watch the video below).
6 days later the results are here and they speak for themselves, even if Iron Man has been out one day less than GTA. Grand Theft Auto IV raked in more than $500 million in its first week in stores, selling more than 6 million units worldwide. On the other hand, Iron Man grossed “only” $214,614,492 worldwide. Here at CARS+MOVIES we’re big fans of both so we wanted to understand why.

From what we read in various sources, the price of GTA ($60.00), compared to the price of a admission in a theater ($10.00) explains a lot, but it’s also what it represents. It’s an investment for a lot of gamers, who know that they’re going to spend much more time in the game (100+ hours) than watching Iron Man. In a word, the cost-per-hour of entertainment is lower with GTA. On another hand, we don’t think that buying the game will prevent a lot of people from going to a movie.

We also have to keep in mind that Iron Man is having a great start, which explains why Marvel was so quick to announce a sequel. But GTA IV is just amazing…

“Isn’t it nice when things just… work?”

Remember playing with gears and pulleys, for example with your Legos, when you were a kid? Yeah? Then you’re going to like this amazing ad, which was made to promote the Honda Accord back in 2006. Using only parts from the car itself, they put together an incredibly complex mechanism (a.k.a a Rube Goldberg machine) to move a real Accord. The part where the wipers “walk” by themselves after some water is poured on the windshield is our favorite.

“Man has discovered a virtually unlimited source of power…Gasoline.”

Mr. Goldberg had his own show back in the 1940’s. In this video he shows one of his inventions, then explains two crazy -but patented!- machines, that he debunks, and then comes a sort of Discovery Channel segment where the wonders of gasoline are explained. And yes folks, there’s no need to worry, gasoline is in unlimited supply!
