Meet ‘Cars 2′ newest character: Holley Shiftwel

It’s official, Cars 2 will introduce new characters, including Mrs Holley Shiftwell, a British spy who will partner with Lightning McQueen and Mater.

She herself comes to the rescue of her renown colleague Finn McMissile (sounds like a James Bond guy to us! maybe will he be dressed as an Aston?). We like her good looks (inspired by TVR) and her name (Holley carburator anyone?). Can’t wait for more reveals!
The movie will hit theaters on June 24, 2011.

According to Disney/Pixar:

“Holley Shiftwell is a beautiful young British desk agent, turned spy-in-training who’s stationed in Tokyo. Well-educated and sharp, she knows every trick in the book—or rather, she relies on every trick in the spy manual. She’s armed with the latest state-of-the-art spy equipment imaginable, from hidden cameras and concealed weapons to a telescoping utility arm and a holographic pop-up display. Holley is a highly motivated agent, but is fresh out of the academy, so her experience is based on lessons learned in school rather than real-life situations. When seasoned international spy Finn McMissile requires Holley’s technical expertise for his latest top-secret field operation, she finds herself pursuing a rendezvous with the most unlikely candidate—Mater, an innocent caught up in the intrigue, who is mesmerized by the beauty of his newest friend.”

The Art of Cars at the Petersen Automotive Museum

If you’re a fan of Cars (2006), you’ll be happy to know that the world-renowned Petersen Automotive Museum, located in Los Angeles, will soon host an exhibition dedicated to the movie, notably with full-size renditions of McQueen and Mater.

The Art of Cars exhibit gives film fans and art lovers a behind-the-scenes look at Pixar’s animated feature CARS (2006). Numerous pieces of original art will illustrate various phases of the movie’s development. Museum visitors will learn how computer software programs are used to create movement and how backgrounds, lighting and sound are added to create the final film. Also scheduled for display are two life-size depictions of the primary movie characters: Lightning McQueen and Mater. Together they show how Pixar combines art and technology to develop animated feature films that appeal to audiences of all ages.

Current exhibitions include La Vida Lowrider, Treasures of the Vault, NASCAR: 60 Years, the Hot Wheels® Hall of Fame, ALTERNATIVE POWER : Lessons from the Past, Inspiration for the Future AND the always fantastic permanent Hollywood Star Cars.
