Good move from Chevy finally using their movie cred from Transformers. Yes, there’s a third one coming, and that’s unfortunate. Or maybe they’ve actually hired writers this time and it’s awesome. who knows. In any case, it’s a funny video and we’re looking forward to more goodness on Sunday!

Die Hard came up with a pretty cool series of offbeat commercials, including this one featuring Gary Numan, performing his hit “Cars” with car horns triggered by his synthesizer, all powered by one DieHard battery.

Sunday ads: Toyota Sienna Swagger Wagon

Combining a cool idea with great photography, the new viral campaign from Toyota for the Sienna minivan makes it almost hip. Well, it’s still a minivan carrying all the stigma of the family mover, but it seems to be doing very well with parents who understand all the needs of a new family.

Sunday Ads special Super Bowl 2010: Bridgestone ‘Your Tires or your life’

We thought the Bridgestone commcial for the big game was okay, just not as fun as the fantastic “screaming squirrel” from last year. But it looked oddly familiar : the 80’s sci-fi look, the young couple being stopped by a bunch of thugs at night on a deserted road, the challenge “your… or your girl”… It’s the intro scene of The Wraith! No PPG/Dodge “Turbo Interceptor” MS4 here, but a mashup of parts and pipes that reminds of the Delorean from Back to the Future. It could have been funny to have Charlie Sheen do a cameo in there (after all, he’s already doing commercials for Hanes…).
We have to salute the good 80’s movie car culture from the creative people behind the commercial though. Who knows, maybe The Wraith gets some renewed popularity from this, maybe even a Hollywood producer gets his wheels turning and we get a remake in 2012? That could be kind of cool, what do you guys think? Leave your comments!

Crazy what you can do with a Delorean, a few props and a bit of creativity. This ad comes from a small insurance company, they act in it and they probably shot it themselves, but they sure got a lot of exposure with it. It won’t win a Lion at Cannes, but it’s awesome in its own right.

Sunday Ads Super Bowl special : Dodge Charger was the most remarkable car ad

Definitely, Dodge had the most remarkable commercial out of all the manufacturers sowing at the 2010 Super Bowl. But that doesn’t mean it was good. It was the easiest one to remember because of its level of testosterone and machism, for a car that is a long shot from the legendary Charger. While we get the idea behind it (‘Hey guys, it’s okay to get the car you want!’, ‘Be a man!, ‘if you drive anything with less than a V8 you’re a wuss!’), it’s not really the car we want, nor does it make us want to associate with a close-to douchebag-message. If they keep going like that, Dodge and Ram might want to switch their logos to the male logo, engage in full on battle of the sexes and adopt a Mad Men era behavior towards women. For reference, it was given a D- by Time.

According to AdAge:

In each ad, a gleaming black Charger poses atop a parking deck, sun beating off the windows, while a familiar voice — Michael C. Hall, the star of Showtime’s hit series “Dexter” — waxes poetic about manly things. The funniest of the three ads, dubbed “Man Bag,” broke during the NFC Championship game broadcast this past weekend. In it, we hear Mr. Hall recounting all the things the Dodge Charger isn’t: “man sandals,” an “exfoliant with added moisturizer” or a “yoga class.”

The Hemi-powered car has been an on-again, off-again brand for Chrysler. The Charger made a comeback in 2005, after a 17-year hiatus from Chrysler’s vehicle lineup. Under then-director of marketing communications, Julie Roehm, online was the leading medium for an ad campaign.

New Porsche ad: Racing, Not Posing

Porsche is aiming to reclaim its position as a true sports car (you know, not the one as king of soccer-mum SUV one) and just showed it’s new ad: it looks good. Great footage, intelligent copy and cool music. Our kind of ad.
