Suzuki Kizashi 3 video
Last March at the New york Autoshow, Suzuki introduced the Kizashi 3 concept car. To help the physical model, they also had a video entirely in 3D. It’s not a movie per se, but it’s interesting nonetheless, and gives us a sense of things to come.
Computer generated animations have made tremendous improvements for the past decades and will keep doing so. The cost, the amount of time and people to make them has also drop. In the case of the present video, you can tell it’s CGI, but it probably took half the staff and half the cost of a similar video a few years ago. The Kizashi looks a bit stiff and the surroundings lack of life and other vehicles and humans, but the main goals are achieved: the public gets to see the car from many angles, in action, with detail shots, lights on and off, signal working… the car sitting in front of them on the unreal auto show display is suddenly alive.
Now, when it comes to cars in movies, we still prefer the real deal (mainly because we can still tell whether or not it’s CG, but also because it tends to be too polished). Maybe not for long?

Thanks for the tip, Greg!
