David and the talking car
Updated 04/11/2008
Yep, The Hoff loves talking to a black car. And singing. No wonder he accepted to be in the latest VW ad campaign “Das Auto” then, since he does both in. He’s being interviewed by Max, an old but shiny Beetle -a.k.a. the original volkswagen, “the people’s car”-, who reminds him how succesful he was in Germany. That brings the ex-Knight to sing his #1 hit in Germany, Looking for Freedom… The ex-Knight begins singing his #1 hit in Germany, Looking for Freedom, as an answer for “what’s new?” Of course it’s better in video, but we couldn’t find it yet (not even on VW’s website). Update: yeah, we got it! >>
Das Auto: the VW video with the Hoff.
As a side note, we found it surprising that the brand would choose Max as the name for it’s new mascot, since it’s also the name
Lycos chose for it’s black labrador.
Heidi makes Max blush
“German engineering is so sexy!”
In the video above, you can see German supermodel Heidi Klum chatting with Max about their respective superficial and inner beauty. The latter turns red when she says (touching him): “German engineering is so sexy!”. Although simple, the effect is funny and well executed.
As for the other celebrities in the campaign, we didn’t care so much about them, but you can check out the one with former basketball coach Bob Knight (just a coincidence, but funny anyway. Maybe he could make a cameo as the hidden dad of Michael Knight in the new Knight Rider?).
