Sunday Ads: The Italian Job remix for the Fiat Grande Punto

April 6th, 2008 · No Comments

The Italian Job (1966) is one of the best car movie ever made, with three Minis (blue, white and red, the colors of the British flag) storming though the streets of Turin, to accomplish the heist planned by Michael Caine (recently seen as Alfred in Batman Beggins and in the upcoming Dark Knight). It was remade in 2003 with the new Mini, but with not much success.
To promote its new Grande Punto, the Italian car maker Fiat recently came up with a new TV ad based on the movie… from a more local point of view.
Using a remix of “Ho Marie” by Latin Jazz singer Louis Prima, and sporting the green, white and red national colors, three Grande Puntos perform stunts and choreography in the very same streets, including the secret track on the roof of the Fiat building in… Turin!
