Murilee Martin from Jalopnik published an article last week about the extremely 80’s commercial for the Plymouth Duster and, while we usually find the ads we present here ourselves, it’s so amazing we thought you had to see it.
It was aired apparently during the First Annual MTV Video Music Awards, when the channel was still the home of music videos. At 1min30 it’s already a long commercial, but it will seem much longer to you, thanks to the music, Cindy Lauper-like voice, choreography, lyrics, haircuts, shoulder pads, decor… well, pretty much everything actually. Like someone put it in a comment, every second of this ad is filled with 1980’s cliches. And don’t expect the side effects to fade away quickly. “My Duster!” will be stuck in your head for the day.
And I feel the strange urge to blast some Kim Wilde right now.
