To be fully prepared when the ‘08 Knight Rider pilot comes on, we thought you guys should know about some of the previous attempts to bring the show back.
One of them was Team Knight Rider, a 1997 spin-off that lasted only 22 episodes, and was canceled in 1998…

The intro itself gives you a pretty good understanding of the shows quality and why it was so successful.Long story short, TKR took over Michael Knight’s job to keep to world free of villains, but without a red scanner on the hood(s) and five team members. That must mean that in the 90’s there was five times more bad guys than in the 80’s, right? Anyway… the five members are Kyle, Jenny, Duke, Erica and Kevin who each have a vehicle: a Ford Expedition (Danté/D.N.T.-1), a Ford Mustang (Domino/D.M.O.-1), a Ford F-150 (Attack Beast/B.S.T.-1), and two motorcycles prototypes twins ( Kat/K.A.T.-1 and Plato/P.L.A.T.O.-1) who had the ability to combine to form a High Speed Pursuit Vehicle.

And you thought Ford was new to the Knight Rider franchise? Well, that’s what we thought to. And as in the new Knight Rider, the vehicles are barely visually modified. Probably a choice from the product placement department who thought Ford could sell more vehicles this way. Only because of that they definitely didn’t have the same aura as the original KITT and that probably didn’t help the show.
Instead of a big rig as a command center/mobile garage, TKR had a military airplane, the C5, with a pilot, a co-pilot, a medic, some mechanics and a chief.
One of their main enemy was KRO, the car who was supposed to replace KITT, and who went berserk. Kro was a Ferrari GTS.
