Bo Duke’s General Lee, small

John Schnedier and his General Lee. Large picture here.

One of the last of the numerous Dodge Chargers used in The Dukes of Hazzard was sold this week-end at the famous Barrett-Jackson auction, in Scottsdale, AZ. It was the property of the show’s own Bo Duke, the actor John Schneider, who even sang the theme song (The Good Ol’ Boys) on the roof of the car… just before the auction.

The description of the lot had some fun facts:

“Featured in “Dukes of Hazard” TV reunion movie, “The Dukes Go To Hollywood”, “Collier & Co” and “Hot Pursuit!” sans flag, numbers and front push bar. The car has also been featured in “Car and Driver” magazine where it was tested and won all events against the “Starsky and Hutch” car, Kitt from “Knightrider”, the Batmobile and the BOSS Mustang from the latest version of “Gone in 60 Seconds.”"

It’s amazing to see that a car coming from a beloved but low-brow TV show like The Dukes of Hazzard can gain so much respect and generate so much money. No one was probably expecting that back in the days. Anyway, here at CARS + MOVIES it’s one of our favorite cars and favorite shows (’cause we grew up with it), so… well done!
