James Bond in the carpool lane

Aston Martin Rapide, spyshot 01

The new James Bond family bus has been spotted in a gas station, and besides the unfinished appearance, it’s very close to the concept car shown in 2006 in Detroit.

The Rapide could be very helpful for Bond:

  • to go on a mission with his crew, saving some gas and the planet at the same time, while enjoying a traffic free lane and the guys latest jokes, thus arriving on site fresh and relaxed
  • after a hard work day, to hit the pubs with his double-o buddies
  • to pick-up the kids at M’s, who loves to take care of the little spy wannabees
  • to go party like a rock star with the current James Bond girl, the next one and her lonely friend

The Rapide can still do the 0-60mph in less than five seconds, being equipped with an upgraded version of the DB9’s six-liter V12. It’s the size of a Maserati Quattroporte, Mercedes S class or the upcoming Porsche Panamera. But as you will see later on, it won’t be in the next Bond.

Too bad…

The movie

Bond 22 (2008) is in production and we know that Daniel Craig will be 007 again, along with Giancarlo Giannini (René Mathis), Judi Dench (as M) and  Jeffrey Wright (as the CIA agent Felix Leiter) who were already in Casino Royale.

It has been confirmed that James Bond will again be driving an Aston Martin DBS

The presence of  Jesper Christensen (Mr. White) must means that the new opus and Casino Royale are linked, even if Bond 22 isn’t technically a sequel. Olga Kurylenko (Camille) will be the James Bond girl. However, his ride won’t be the Rapide:
“It has been confirmed that James Bond will again be driving an Aston Martin DBS, the same car he drove in Casino Royale. It has also been confirmed that it will be supplied with “some gadgets,” although the production company refused to elaborate further. “(Source: Imdb)
